Parihaka led a social movement of peace and unity, welcoming everyone from Maori to Tangata Tiriti who sought refuge from violence and injustice. It modeled manaakitanga & whanaungatanga, leading from a place of moral courage and compassion. We must look to such examples when setting out our kaupapa, values and policies. We must uphold the same vision set out by Tohu & Te Whiti that if honoured at the time would’ve set a completely different path for Aotearoa. Te Pāti Māori are committed to this
