#OnThisDay in 1866, England suffered its worst mining disaster at the Oaks Colliery in Barnsley. In the aftermath, relief funds supported the widows and orphans left behind. Among the most enduring legacies were the “Oaks Bibles”, gifted to families as a source of comfort and faith.
