In managing a patient with Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT) and a pulse rate over 200 bpm, initial treatment often includes antiarrhythmic drugs like amiodarone or diltiazem. However, when these fail, intravenous adenosine is the treatment of choice. Adenosine works by temporarily blocking the AV node, effectively terminating the arrhythmia and restoring normal sinus rhythm.
