Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary has been a refuge for wildlife and people since its establishment in 1954. The protected acreage has grown over the decades, and as more people flock to the region, the Sanctuary’s rugged wilderness is becoming even more important to wildlife. Last week, the Sanctuary was the release site for a pair of orphaned raccoons. This mosaic of upland and wetland habitats is the perfect environment for a variety of species, from the smallest treefrog to the tallest Wood Stork. B
