One person was killed and more than a dozen people were hurt when a gas explosion sparked a massive, four-alarm blaze on the top floors of a high-rise apartment building in the Bronx early Saturday morning.
Officials say one person was killed and 14 others injured in a gas explosion and fires at the top of a 17-story New York City apartment building.
The explosion occurred while first responders were at the scene at the Bronx building on Saturday, Jan. 24
Canby officials asked residents and businesses near 301 South Redwood St. to evacuate Tuesday afternoon because of a “presumed gas explosion.” The City of Canby said on social media that first responders were on scene and had closed the road between Southeast 3rd Avenue and South Redwood Street.
A gas line to the building was shut off by utility crews, and the fire was deemed under control by 6 p.m. Monday.
